A Sudden Crash, Then Silence: Six Siblings Die Under Collapsed Roof in Shangla

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

SHANGLA: A devastating tragedy struck Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Shangla district when six siblings lost their lives after the roof of their mud-built house collapsed in the Rahimabad area of Alpuri tehsil, rescue officials said on Monday.

According to rescue authorities, seven children were trapped beneath the rubble when the roof suddenly caved in. Emergency teams and local residents rushed to the scene and launched rescue efforts to recover those trapped under the debris.

Officials said six children died at the scene, while a young girl was successfully pulled out alive from the wreckage. The survivor was shifted for medical treatment, though further details about her condition were not immediately available.

The deceased children were identified as Nazira, Samira, Rizwan, Nayyab, Haya Noor and Umaira Bibi. Their ages ranged between five and 14 years, making the loss particularly heartbreaking for the local community.

Police said the children’s father, Jehan Bashir, had passed away some time ago. Following his death, the family continued living in a vulnerable mud-built house, which authorities believe may have contributed to the fatal collapse.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the region, with residents expressing grief over the loss of six young lives from a single family. Local officials have urged increased attention to the safety of aging and structurally weak homes in remote mountainous areas.

The tragedy comes amid a series of similar incidents reported in northern Pakistan. In a separate house collapse in the Tangir Lark area of Chilas, four people were killed and two others injured, highlighting concerns over the condition of residential structures in vulnerable regions.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Shangla collapse as calls grow for improved housing safety measures and support for at-risk families.
