China Urges Ceasefire as Pakistan-Afghanistan Tensions Escalate

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Beijing urges restraint and offers diplomatic support amid Operation Ghazab lil-Haq

China has urged Pakistan and Afghanistan to exercise restraint and immediately agree to a ceasefire amid escalating cross-border hostilities. Beijing expressed “deep concern” after reports that Pakistan carried out airstrikes on major Afghan cities, including Kabul, AFP reported.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said China is actively communicating with both sides to de-escalate the situation and prevent further civilian casualties. She reiterated China’s readiness to play a constructive role in mediating tensions through diplomatic channels. Chinese embassies in Islamabad and Kabul are engaged with relevant authorities to address the crisis.

The heightened conflict follows Pakistan’s launch of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq in response to alleged unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban forces along the border. Pakistani security sources said Taliban fighters targeted multiple points in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, prompting a coordinated counter-offensive. Pakistani forces reportedly captured five Afghan posts in the Paktia region and destroyed Taliban command and logistics infrastructure. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar claimed 133 Taliban fighters were killed and more than 200 injured, with significant losses to tanks, artillery, and other assets.

Officials emphasized Pakistan’s readiness to defend its sovereignty, warning that any further aggression would trigger an even stronger response. China’s call for calm underscores growing international concern over rising tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
