Authorities check hundreds of homes, vehicles and hostels while arresting suspects, drug dealers and illegal foreigners during coordinated operations.
ISLAMABAD: Security forces launched widespread search and combing operations across Islamabad, Rawalpindi and adjoining districts as part of a broader crackdown to strengthen law and order, officials said on Monday.
According to a police spokesperson, authorities conducted coordinated operations in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal and Murree, inspecting homes, vehicles, hostels and marketplaces.
In Islamabad’s Shahzad Town area, police recovered ammunition for 8-bore and 30-bore pistols. During the operation, officers checked 235 houses and screened 110 individuals, while six vehicles and 14 motorcycles were also inspected.
In Rawalpindi, police carried out a search operation in the Dhoke Jamna locality. Authorities examined 47 vehicles and searched 29 hostels, two hotels and two shops. During the crackdown, 31 suspicious individuals were taken into custody for questioning.
Meanwhile, in Attock, police checked 117 individuals and searched 791 houses across different areas. Officials said 1,610 grams of charas were recovered and two suspected drug dealers were arrested.
Similar operations in Jhelum involved checking 355 individuals and 151 houses, leading to the arrest of four Afghan nationals. In Chakwal, police recovered weapons and ammunition and registered cases against suspects.
In Murree, search operations were conducted in Kotli Bazaar, Sunny Bank and New Murree Bazaar, where three proclaimed offenders were arrested. Authorities also detained six illegal Afghan nationals and shifted them to a holding center for further action.
