Junaid Safdar Denies Vienna Honeymoon Trip as Punjab Govt Threatens Legal Action Over “Fake Flight” Claims

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Sharif family and Punjab Ministers reject claims of a government jet used for Junaid Safdar’s alleged Vienna honeymoon, calling the reports politically motivated misinformation.

Junaid Safdar has denied social media claims that he travelled to Vienna on an official aircraft, dismissing rumours that the trip was linked to his honeymoon.

In an Instagram story, the son of Maryam Nawaz said he never went to Vienna, rejecting the speculation circulating online.

The controversy began after social media posts alleged that a government jet had flown to Vienna for Safdar’s personal use. Some users claimed the journey was related to a private honeymoon trip in Europe.

However, the Sharif family strongly denied the allegations. A spokesperson said Safdar was in Raiwind and had not travelled anywhere in Europe on a special aircraft. The family called the reports “false and baseless” and warned it could pursue legal action against those spreading the claims.

The Punjab government also responded forcefully. Senior minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said authorities would take legal action against individuals and platforms involved in what she described as a coordinated misinformation campaign.

Posting on X, Aurangzeb said cases could be filed under the Defamation Law 2024, stressing that fake news and organised propaganda would no longer go unanswered.

Information minister Azma Bokhari said the aircraft had actually travelled abroad for a routine technical inspection, rejecting claims that it was used for private travel.

The dispute comes amid earlier criticism over the Punjab government’s purchase of a 19-seater Gulfstream business jet reportedly worth $38–42 million (over Rs10 billion), which opposition parties say reflects poor priorities during economic hardship in Pakistan.
