Top military leadership and religious scholars unite to promote peace and stability across Pakistan
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Syed Asim Munir, held a key meeting with Shia religious scholars, stressing that violence triggered by international events will not be tolerated to enter the country.
During the meeting, Munir warned against the misuse of religious sentiments to incite unrest, calling such actions a serious threat to national stability. He made it clear that Pakistan will not allow external conflicts to influence domestic peace or fuel sectarian divisions.
The army chief reaffirmed that security forces will continue intelligence-based operations against terrorist elements and their support networks. “Terrorists and their networks, wherever they may be, will be eliminated through precise intelligence-led actions,” he stated.
The discussion comes amid growing concerns that global developments could provoke sectarian tensions within Pakistan. Munir emphasized the need for unity and vigilance, noting that maintaining internal harmony remains a top priority for the state.
Shia scholars attending the meeting expressed full confidence in state institutions and pledged their support for peace, stability, and national cohesion. They rejected any attempts to exploit religious differences for violence and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting harmony across communities.
The meeting reflects a broader effort to strengthen cooperation between religious leaders and security institutions, aimed at preventing extremism and ensuring lasting peace in Pakistan.
