The Capital Development Authority has identified unauthorized construction and building regulation violations at several seminaries in Islamabad and directed their administrations to address the violations within 15 days.
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has issued notices to several seminaries described as being associated with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman over alleged violations of building control regulations in Islamabad, warning that non-compliance could lead to building sealing, fines and cancellation of allotments.
The notices highlight unauthorized construction, deviations from approved building plans and violations of prescribed building regulations at different religious institutions in the federal capital.
One of the notices was issued to Madressah Akhtar-ul-Uloom in Bilal Town, Korang Nullah, Khanna Dak, for carrying out construction without an approved building plan.
The CDA directed the administration of the seminary to submit the required construction plans within 15 days. It also warned that failure to comply with the directive could result in action to seal the building.
In a separate case, the authority identified alleged building control violations at Idara Maarif-e-Islamia, Shariah Rabbaniyah, Tafee-ul-Quran, located at House No. 3, Street No. 6, Sector F-8/3, Islamabad.
According to the violations highlighted in the notice, unauthorized construction has been carried out in the setback areas of the property, while additional structures have also been erected on the rooftop without the required authorization.
The CDA also raised an objection to the use of the building as a seminary instead of its designated residential purpose.
The administration of the institution has been directed to remove all identified violations within 15 days and bring the property into compliance with the applicable regulations.
The authority has warned that failure to meet the deadline could result in legal and regulatory action, including sealing the building, imposing fines and cancelling the property’s allotment.
The notices form part of the CDA’s action to enforce building control regulations in Islamabad. The authority’s action covers violations involving religious seminaries as well as other buildings in the federal capital.
The cases highlight the authority’s concerns over construction carried out without approved plans, unauthorized changes to building structures and the use of properties for purposes other than those permitted under their designated land-use categories.
The administrations of the institutions concerned have been given 15 days to address the violations identified by the CDA. Further action will depend on compliance with the notices and the authority’s enforcement process.
