Residents clean graves and offer Fateha as emotional scenes unfold in Sargodha cemeteries following Eid prayers.
SARGODHA: After offering Eid ul Fitr prayers on Saturday, large numbers of residents in Sargodha moved toward local graveyards, commonly referred to as the “City of Silence,” to pay tribute to their deceased loved ones.
Families were seen cleaning graves, laying fresh flowers, and reciting Fateha for the departed souls. The atmosphere in the cemeteries was emotional yet calm, as visitors reflected on memories of relatives who had passed away.
Many citizens said the tradition of visiting graves on Eid is an essential part of their religious and cultural practice, allowing families to remain spiritually connected with those who are no longer alive.
Graveyards across the city witnessed steady footfall from early morning hours, with groups arriving in clusters after Eid prayers concluded in mosques. Children accompanied elders as families collectively performed prayers and offered supplications for peace for the departed.
Speaking from the site, local reporter Tahir Kamboh noted that graveyards remained well-attended throughout the day, with volunteers also assisting in basic cleaning efforts to maintain cleanliness in the burial grounds.
