Sindh government announces two-day public holidays for Muharram as authorities strengthen security arrangements nationwide.
The Sindh government has officially announced public holidays on 9th and 10th Muharram, confirming that all government offices and administrative departments across the province will remain closed on June 25 and June 26.
The decision was issued through an official notification, allowing citizens and institutions to observe the important religious occasion. The announcement comes as preparations for Muharram events continue across the country.
Officials have also confirmed that the Muharram moon was not sighted, resulting in the first day of Muharram being observed on June 17. According to the official calendar, Ashura, the 10th of Muharram, will be marked on June 26 this year.
Religious gatherings, processions, and majalis are expected to take place nationwide during the holy month. Authorities have started implementing security arrangements to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram.
Law enforcement agencies have been placed on alert, with special security plans prepared for processions, religious gatherings, and sensitive areas. Police and relevant departments have been instructed to maintain public safety and prevent any possible disruptions.
