GTA 6 Leaks: Rockstar Games Breaks Silence Ahead of Netflix Gameplay Reveal

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Rockstar Games has addressed the unauthorized GTA 6 footage for the first time as an extended gameplay preview prepares to debut on Netflix.

Rockstar Games has publicly addressed the wave of Grand Theft Auto VI leaks for the first time, describing the unauthorized release of gameplay footage as “heartbreaking” for the team behind one of the gaming industry’s most anticipated titles.

The statement came less than 24 hours before Rockstar’s scheduled extended gameplay reveal, which is set to premiere on Netflix before appearing on the developer’s website and YouTube channel.

Rockstar Responds to GTA 6 Leaks

Clips claiming to show GTA 6 gameplay and cinematics began spreading across social media and gaming forums in mid-August. Multiple outlets tracking the leaks linked the footage to a source or group using the name Cyberleek.

Rockstar initially remained silent, while parent company Take-Two Interactive pursued legal action in a New York court in an effort to identify and stop those responsible for distributing the footage.

Rockstar later acknowledged the situation, saying the leaks had been “heartbreaking” for its team and that the footage was “obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time.”

The company also apologized for the long gaps between official updates and said its upcoming Netflix preview would “exceed” what fans had already seen through unauthorized footage.

Leaks Disrupt Rockstar’s Carefully Controlled Campaign

The timing of the leaks is particularly significant because Rockstar has maintained an unusually secretive marketing strategy for GTA 6. The company has released only two official trailers so far, with the videos collectively approaching 500 million views on YouTube.

The leaked material has reportedly included gameplay footage showing protagonist Jason shooting hoops outside a safehouse, causing chaos on the roads of the fictional Florida setting, visiting a nudist colony and cycling along a crowded beach.

More recent footage has reportedly moved into story material, including a cutscene involving co-protagonist Lucia, increasing concerns that narrative details could be revealed before the game officially launches.

Social media platforms have removed some clips following copyright complaints, but additional footage has continued to appear online. The account associated with the leaks has also promoted a cryptocurrency token, prompting some fans to question the motives behind the releases.

Release Plans Remain Unchanged

Despite the leaks, Rockstar’s release schedule remains unchanged. GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on Nov. 19, 2026.

Pre-orders opened June 25, and the game continues to generate significant anticipation. GTA 5, released in 2013, has sold more than 200 million copies, setting an enormous commercial benchmark for its successor.

Rockstar is also facing a separate legal dispute involving former employees who allege they were illegally dismissed while attempting to unionize. The company denies the allegations and says the workers were dismissed for gross misconduct.
