PTI leadership dismisses campaign against KP Chief Minister Soheil Afridi, reiterates full backing and warns detractors of failure
In a firm and unambiguous statement, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has declared unwavering support for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Soheil Afridi, rejecting any speculation about his removal and labeling ongoing criticism as baseless.
Speaking to media representatives, Gohar Ali Khan emphasized that Afridi would continue to serve in his role, asserting that all attempts to undermine his position would fail. His remarks come amid growing political chatter suggesting internal rifts and possible changes in the provincial leadership.
The PTI chairman underscored that Afridi was nominated by the party’s founding leader, Imran Khan, making his leadership both legitimate and backed by the highest authority within the party. He stressed that there should be no ambiguity regarding Afridi’s position as chief minister.
Highlighting governance performance, Gohar stated that Afridi has been working effectively in the province and enjoys the full confidence of the party leadership. He dismissed the campaign against the chief minister as a coordinated effort by certain elements, describing it as unfounded and politically motivated.
Gohar Ali Khan further warned that any internal or external attempts to destabilize Afridi’s government would be unsuccessful. His statement signals a clear message from the PTI leadership amid ongoing political tensions, aiming to project unity and stability within the party’s ranks.
The development comes at a time when political dynamics in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remain sensitive, with opposition voices and internal speculation contributing to uncertainty. PTI’s strong backing of Afridi appears to be an effort to curb dissent and reinforce leadership continuity in the province.
