Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf says Tehran will no longer accept unfulfilled commitments, warning that any aggression or broken promises will carry consequences as tensions over the Strait of Hormuz intensify.
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a sharp warning to the United States, declaring that the time for one-sided agreements has ended and insisting that commitments must be honored or face consequences.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf wrote, “We have already said it clearly: keep your promises or pay the price,” adding that “reality is now knocking at the door.” His remarks reflect Tehran’s growing frustration over what it says is the failure to implement previous understandings between the two sides.
To reinforce his message, Ghalibaf shared an image highlighting Article 5 of a previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The section referenced arrangements related to the reopening and management of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime trade routes. Iran maintains that the agreement clearly outlines its responsibilities regarding administrative arrangements for the waterway.
The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions following recent military exchanges and ongoing disputes over maritime security in the Gulf. Iranian officials continue to argue that agreements governing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz must be respected by all parties.
