Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz meets a retired army Havaldar and his family in Hassan Abdal, where a Rs1.5 million housing loan helped them build their own home.
HASSAN ABDAL: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated a newly constructed house under the provincial government’s Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar housing scheme in Hassan Abdal, highlighting the initiative’s progress in helping families build their own homes.
During her visit, the chief minister met retired Havaldar Aitbar Shah and his family to hear about their experience with the government-backed housing programme.
The family informed Maryam Nawaz that they had received a loan of Rs1.5 million under the scheme, which enabled them to construct a house on a plot they already owned.
The financial assistance helped the family turn its dream of owning a home into reality by providing the resources needed to undertake construction.
Maryam Nawaz congratulated the family on completing their house and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar programme.
The chief minister also highlighted that 225,000 people had received loans under the initiative, which is designed to support deserving families seeking to construct their own homes.
The Punjab government’s Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar scheme primarily targets people who already own small plots of land but lack the financial resources to build houses. Through financial assistance in the form of loans, the programme aims to make home construction more accessible to eligible applicants.
The initiative is intended to address the financial difficulties faced by families who own land but cannot afford the cost of building a house.
The experience shared by Aitbar Shah’s family during the chief minister’s visit provided an example of how the housing loan programme is being used by beneficiaries to construct homes on their existing plots.
The provincial government has highlighted the provision of loans to 225,000 people as a key milestone in the scheme’s implementation.
