Heavy monsoon rainfall has lashed Murree, prompting authorities to issue travel advisories as more showers are forecast during the first week of July.
Heavy monsoon rain continued to batter Murree on Thursday, with more than 85 millimeters of rainfall recorded in a single day, according to local authorities. The downpour follows an earlier forecast by the Pakistan Meteorological Department, which had predicted a fresh monsoon spell across the region.
Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi said the district administration remains fully active in the field to monitor the situation and respond to any emergencies. He added that Rescue 1122 teams are providing timely emergency assistance, while all relevant government departments have been placed on high alert.
Officials have warned that additional rainfall is expected during the first week of July, increasing the possibility of slippery roads, reduced visibility, and localized disruptions in the popular hill station.
The district administration has advised tourists planning to visit Murree to stay updated on the latest weather conditions before traveling. Visitors have also been urged to strictly follow all safety instructions and precautionary measures issued by the local administration to ensure their safety during the ongoing monsoon season.
