Pakistan has allowed the export of multiple goods to Iran, including rice seafood pharmaceutical products, and agricultural items in a move aimed at strengthening regional trade. The decision comes as part of a broader initiative to enhance trade connectivity with Central Asian states through Iran.
According to an official statement the Ministry of Commerce has granted a temporary exemption from key financial requirements including bank guarantees and Letters of Credit, for exports routed via Iran. This relaxation will facilitate smoother trade flows to Iran, Azerbaijan, and other Central Asian countries through land routes.
The list of permitted exports includes rice, seafood, potatoes meat onions maize fruits pharmaceutical products and tents. Authorities believe this step will significantly reduce both the cost and time associated with exporting goods, making Pakistani products more competitive in regional markets.
The Ministry of Commerce clarified that while partial exemptions from State Bank regulations have been granted exporters must still ensure that export proceeds are repatriated within the prescribed timeframe.
Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal stated that the special concession will remain effective for three months from March 24 to June 21, 2026. He emphasized that the initiative will boost exports and contribute to economic stability.
