Security forces foil major terror plot, five militants killed in retaliation
Bannu: The Pakistan Army has reaffirmed its commitment to continue indiscriminate operations against terrorists, regardless of their location, following a deadly attack on a security convoy in Bannu.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Afghan Taliban government has failed to prevent militants from using Afghan soil to target Pakistan. Pakistan’s security forces, the statement emphasized, will continue decisive measures against terrorist elements.
ISPR disclosed that intelligence linked the Bannu attack to the Gul Bahadur group based in Afghanistan. The timely response of security forces prevented a large-scale disaster and thwarted attempts to target civilians and personnel.
During the operation, forces tracked militants and intercepted a suicide bomber in a vehicle laden with explosives. Despite being stopped, the attackers rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a security vehicle. The assault claimed the lives of Lieutenant Colonel Shehzada Gulfraz and Sepoy Karamat Shah, while five terrorists were killed in retaliatory action.
ISPR reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces will continue their operations until terrorism is completely eradicated.
