Pakistan’s top officials discussed the Iran-US conflict, Middle East tensions and steps toward restoring the Islamabad MoU during a meeting with Iran’s president.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said significant progress was made during his meeting with Iranian President over the Iran-US conflict, tensions in the Middle East and efforts to restore the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
In a post on X, Naqvi said Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and he held a “very positive and productive” meeting with the Iranian president. He said the discussions focused on the ongoing Iran-US conflict, regional tensions and the way forward.
Naqvi said the meeting also addressed steps required by both sides for the restoration of the Islamabad MoU, which he said could lead to a comprehensive settlement of the conflict.
“The Iranian President candidly shared his Government’s perspective and concerns,” Naqvi said, adding that the two sides held a constructive exchange on the issues under discussion.
According to Naqvi, the meeting resulted in “significant progress” and concluded on a highly positive note.
He expressed hope that the momentum generated by the meeting would support further progress toward resolving outstanding issues and contribute to lasting peace in the region.
The discussions come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and ongoing diplomatic efforts surrounding the Iran-US conflict. Pakistan has continued to engage with regional stakeholders as part of efforts to promote dialogue and a peaceful resolution.
Naqvi said Pakistan remained hopeful that the progress made during the meeting would help pave the way for further developments and lasting regional stability.
