Pakistan Navy successfully demonstrates precision strike capability with Taimoor air-launched cruise missile in live firing test.
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy has successfully conducted a live weapon firing of the Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile, an indigenously developed anti-ship missile system designed to enhance maritime strike capabilities, officials said on Tuesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the test demonstrated the missile’s precision strike capability and confirmed its operational readiness at extended ranges. The system is designed to detect, track and engage hostile naval targets with high accuracy, significantly strengthening the navy’s ability to respond to sea-based threats.
The successful trial is being viewed as a major advancement in Pakistan’s indigenous defence production efforts, particularly in enhancing multi-dimensional warfare capabilities in the maritime domain. Officials stated that the missile system adds a new layer of deterrence and operational flexibility to naval operations.
Military authorities said the test validated critical performance parameters, including targeting accuracy, guidance reliability, and strike effectiveness under operational conditions. The achievement reflects continued progress in Pakistan’s defence technology development and self-reliance initiatives.
Following the test, the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and all Services Chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers involved in the development of the system. They described the successful launch as an important milestone in strengthening indigenous defence capability and enhancing national security posture.
Defence officials further noted that the integration of advanced missile systems like Taimoor is expected to improve the Pakistan Navy’s ability to safeguard maritime interests, secure sea lanes, and maintain operational readiness in a rapidly evolving regional security environment.
