Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has defended recent actions against Iran, stating that eliminating the perceived nuclear threat was necessary for global security. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office Trump said the United States is not yet ready to withdraw from the region although he indicated that an exit could happen soon.
Trump emphasized that the U.S. received strong support from several Middle Eastern countries but criticized NATO for failing to provide adequate backing. He also expressed disappointment with Keir Starmer claiming the British government offered limited cooperation during the conflict.
According to Trump, the United Kingdom only agreed to send two aircraft carriers after the U.S. had already secured success. Despite calling Starmer a good person Trump said he was dissatisfied with the level of support.
Reiterating his stance Trump described Iran as a major threat recognized by many countries and insisted that U.S. actions were essential to neutralize that danger. He added that while the U.S. does not depend on NATO the alliance should have played a more active role in the region.
Responding to the resignation of former counterterrorism official oe Kent Trump said he was not surprised describing Kent as weak on security and adding that it was better he stepped down.
