Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid tribute to a brave villager from Jand who sacrificed his life while attempting to stop a suspected suicide bomber near the Khushhal Garh check post, calling his courage an unforgettable act of heroism.
In an official statement, the chief minister saluted the “great sacrifice” of Shaheed Liaquat, who reportedly put his own life at risk to protect local residents from a possible large-scale tragedy. She said the martyr’s bravery reflected the spirit of ordinary Pakistanis who stand against terrorism despite grave danger.
Maryam Nawaz also praised the Punjab Police team stationed at the Khushhal Garh check post for their swift and courageous response during the incident. She said the actions of both the civilian hero and the police personnel helped prevent a potentially devastating attack in the area.
Expressing sympathy with the bereaved family, the chief minister said the Punjab government stands with the relatives of Shaheed Liaquat in this difficult time. She added that the sacrifice of the villager would always be remembered with honor and respect.
“The sacrifice of Shaheed Liaquat will never be forgotten,” Maryam Nawaz said, reiterating the government’s commitment to ensuring public safety across the province.
The chief minister further stated that all possible measures would continue to be taken to secure Punjab and protect citizens from terrorism and extremist threats. The incident has once again highlighted the growing role of civilians and law enforcement working together against militancy in sensitive regions bordering multiple provinces.
