June 2026 outlook predicts above-normal temperatures across much of Pakistan, while several regions may receive below-average rainfall, raising concerns over water availability and heatwave risks.
Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has released its climate outlook for June 2026, warning that most parts of the country are likely to experience higher-than-normal temperatures while rainfall may remain at or below average levels in several regions.
According to the forecast, northeastern Punjab, Kashmir, and many areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to receive below-normal rainfall during the month. Experts caution that reduced precipitation could affect water availability and agricultural activities, particularly in areas dependent on seasonal rainfall.
In contrast, Gilgit-Baltistan and the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to witness above-normal rainfall. Northern Sindh and western mountainous regions are expected to receive rainfall close to seasonal averages, providing some relief from otherwise dry conditions.
Meteorological experts have also projected a noticeable increase in temperatures across much of the country. Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are among the regions where temperatures may rise significantly above normal levels.
The department has advised citizens to take precautionary measures against extreme heat, including limiting unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, staying hydrated, and following health advisories during peak daytime hours.
Officials have warned that if temperatures remain elevated and rainfall stays below average, certain regions could face increased risks of water shortages and heatwaves. Relevant authorities have been urged to make advance preparations to mitigate potential impacts on public health, water resources, and agriculture.
