Residents of North Waziristan demand urgent security measures as worsening law and order drives large-scale displacement
NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Hundreds of families have fled their homes in Shewa tehsil of North Waziristan amid a deteriorating security situation, local sources said.
Residents, particularly from the Drazinda area, have migrated to cities including Peshawar, Bannu, Kohat, and parts of Punjab as a precautionary measure. The pace of displacement has increased significantly since Eid, fueling anxiety and unrest among the local population.
Community members expressed deep concern over the worsening law and order situation, urging security forces to take immediate and effective steps to restore peace and prevent further displacement.
Once considered one of the most peaceful regions of North Waziristan, Shewa has witnessed a dramatic decline in security over the past year. Frequent quadcopter attacks, along with activities by militant and banned groups, have severely disrupted daily life.
The recent bombing of a key bridge over the Kurram River has intensified fears, leaving residents feeling vulnerable and uncertain about their future.
The ongoing instability has forced many families to abandon their homes in search of safety, highlighting the urgent need for decisive action to stabilize the region and restore public confidence.
