Pakistan seeks to deepen economic, diplomatic, and strategic cooperation during high-level talks in Jeddah.
JEDDAH: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday leading a high-level delegation for talks aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and reviewing regional developments, officials said. The visit underscores continued engagement between Islamabad and Riyadh amid evolving geopolitical and economic dynamics in the Middle East.
Upon arrival at Jeddah airport, the prime minister was received by the deputy governor of Makkah on behalf of Saudi leadership. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar are accompanying the prime minister as part of the delegation, according to officials. The visit includes high-level meetings and official engagements over the coming days.
During the visit, PM Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to meet Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The discussions are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and defense, along with coordination on regional security matters. Both sides are also likely to review ongoing economic partnerships and explore opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia maintain long-standing strategic and economic ties, with Riyadh remaining a key partner in energy supplies, investment flows, and expatriate remittances. The latest visit comes as Islamabad seeks to deepen external partnerships to support economic stability while Saudi Arabia advances its Vision 2030 diversification agenda.
