Islamabad witnessed a dramatic legal development on Thursday when a court at the Judicial Complex dismissed pre-arrest bail applications in the high-profile killing case of Gilaaman Wazir, triggering immediate arrests of the nominated suspects outside the courtroom.
The hearing, conducted by Judge Afzal Majoka, ended with the rejection of bail requests filed by the accused. The decision marked a turning point in the case, which has drawn significant public and political attention due to its sensitivity and alleged links to prominent figures.
Following the court’s ruling, police swiftly moved into action and arrested three central suspects identified as Naik Badshah, Afzal Khan, and Shahzeb from the court premises. The arrests took place moments after the judge announced the verdict, leaving no room for further legal relief at this stage.
The case, involving the killing of Gilaaman Wazir—associated with the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM)—has been closely followed since its inception. Authorities have maintained that the investigation is ongoing, while the prosecution continues to build its case against the accused.
Legal representatives, including lawyer Musaddiq Aziz Khattak, appeared before the court during the proceedings, presenting arguments in support of the bail applications. However, the court remained unconvinced and upheld the prosecution’s stance.
The decision has intensified scrutiny around the case, with observers noting that the rejection of bail signals a stricter judicial approach as the investigation progresses. Police officials confirmed that the arrested individuals have been taken into custody for further interrogation and legal processing.
The developments inside the Islamabad Judicial Complex underscore the escalating legal pressure in the case, as proceedings move toward the next phase of trial.
