Nowshera: Authorities have tightened security measures across the district ahead of the anti-polio campaign scheduled to begin on May 18, with police launching large-scale search-and-strike operations to ensure a peaceful environment during the vaccination drive.
Acting on the directives of District Police Officer Ahmad Shah, all Station House Officers conducted targeted operations under the direct supervision of SDPOs in their respective circles. The campaign focused on monitoring suspected individuals, habitual offenders, rented properties, hostels, and inns across the district.
Police also established multiple checkpoints at key locations where modern technology was used to verify the records of suspicious persons, vehicles, and motorcycles. Authorities paid special attention to hotels, hostels, and rented houses to confirm the identities and purposes of residents staying there.
According to officials, raids were carried out at the hideouts of proclaimed offenders involved in serious crimes, while legal action was initiated against individuals accused of providing shelter or assistance to criminals. Separate crackdowns were also conducted against illegal weapons, public display of arms, and motorcycles without registration plates.
Speaking about the operation, DPO Ahmad Shah stressed that public cooperation is essential for maintaining peace. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to nearby police stations or Police Liaison Committee members.
Police officials reaffirmed their commitment to deploying all available resources to maintain law and order throughout the anti-polio campaign and ensure the safety of vaccination teams and residents.
