Venezuela’s Night of Horror: Twin Quakes Leave Dozens Dead as Thousands Remain Missing

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Twin earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude struck Venezuela, killing at least 32 people, injuring hundreds, and leaving thousands unaccounted for as rescue teams race to find survivors.

A devastating natural disaster has plunged Venezuela into mourning after two powerful earthquakes struck within seconds of each other, causing widespread destruction across the country and leaving entire communities in shock.

According to authorities, the first earthquake measured 7.2 magnitude and struck roughly 160 kilometers west of Caracas. Less than a minute later, a stronger 7.5-magnitude quake hit, triggering building collapses, panic, and mass evacuations throughout the capital and surrounding regions.

Officials confirmed at least 32 deaths and nearly 700 injuries, though the toll is expected to rise as rescue teams continue searching through rubble. The coastal state of La Guaira, among the hardest-hit areas, has yet to provide a full casualty count. More than 6,600 people were reported missing on an emergency online platform established after the disaster.

Interim President Delcy Rodriguez described the event as a “true tragedy” and said emergency crews were working around the clock to rescue those trapped beneath collapsed structures. Hospitals in Caracas activated emergency protocols and called in additional medical staff to handle the influx of injured patients.

The US Geological Survey warned that fatalities could climb significantly due to the scale of the earthquake damage. Aftershocks continued through the night, while international assistance offers arrived from several countries, including Brazil, Spain, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic.
