Senior military leaders from Pakistan and Libya discussed regional security, defense training, and enhanced bilateral military cooperation during a high-profile meeting at GHQ in Rawalpindi.
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and Libya moved to strengthen their military relationship as Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, Lt-Gen Saddam Khalifa Haftar, held a key meeting with Pakistan Army Chief Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on regional security developments, defense training, and expanding cooperation between the armed forces of both countries. The discussions highlighted a shared commitment to enhancing professional military collaboration and strengthening bilateral defense ties.
Upon his arrival at GHQ, Lt-Gen Saddam Khalifa Haftar received a guard of honour presented by a tri-services contingent representing Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force. The ceremonial welcome underscored the significance of the visit and the growing relationship between the two nations.
During the talks, Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace, regional stability, and constructive engagement with friendly countries. Both sides agreed to increase cooperation in professional military training and security-related fields.
The ISPR stated that the visiting Libyan commander praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces. He also acknowledged their role in supporting regional peace and security efforts.
