Punjab Weather Turns Dramatically as Rainfall Brings Sudden Relief From Scorching Heat

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Cloudy skies and widespread rainfall across Lahore and several districts of Punjab provided relief from hot and humid conditions, while authorities remained alert to flooding risks and power disruptions.

Punjab witnessed a welcome change in weather on Thursday as rainfall and overcast skies brought much-needed relief from the intense heat that had affected residents across the province in recent days.

In Lahore, light to moderate rain fell in several areas, including Abbott Road, Model Road, Islampura, and nearby localities. The showers significantly reduced temperatures and improved overall weather conditions, offering comfort to citizens struggling with persistent heat and humidity.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Lahore’s daytime temperature was recorded at 31 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature remained at 29°C, while the maximum is expected to reach around 36°C. However, continued cloud cover and intermittent rainfall are likely to keep conditions relatively pleasant.

The weather system extended beyond the provincial capital, with heavy rainfall reported in districts such as Gujrat and Jhelum. While the rain cooled temperatures, it also caused water accumulation in low-lying areas, creating traffic disruptions and difficulties for commuters on major roads.

Heavy downpours also impacted electricity supply in several localities after multiple power feeders tripped. Temporary power outages were reported, prompting utility teams to begin restoration work.

Meteorologists say the current weather system is expected to remain active over the coming days. Additional rainfall has been forecast for parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Upper Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Waziristan, where thunderstorms and gusty winds may accompany the rain.
