Federal Minister Musadik Malik calls for stronger monitoring, clean energy, electric vehicles and nationwide action to reduce air pollution in Pakistan.
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik has called for coordinated national efforts to tackle air pollution, describing poor air quality as a major challenge to public health and stressing that clean air is a basic right of every citizen.
Addressing an event in Islamabad, Malik said effective monitoring and enforcement were essential to improving air quality across the country. He emphasized that environmental protection could not be achieved through isolated measures and required joint efforts at the national level.
The federal minister said reforms were needed in key sectors including industry, transportation and energy to achieve cleaner air. He also highlighted the importance of raising public awareness and encouraging citizens to play their part in protecting the environment.
Malik said Pakistan was taking steps to promote electric vehicles as part of efforts to reduce pollution from transportation. He also called for greater use of modern technology to monitor and control air pollution.
According to the minister, promoting clean energy would be an important tool for reducing harmful emissions and improving environmental conditions. He stressed that policies aimed at cleaner production and transportation would need effective implementation to deliver meaningful results.
Malik said the government had a responsibility to ensure a clean and safe environment for future generations. He urged stakeholders to work together to address environmental challenges and strengthen measures aimed at improving air quality.
