Pakistan Condemns Israeli Strikes on Syria, Warns of Dangerous Regional Escalation

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Pakistan has condemned reported Israeli airstrikes on Syria’s Abu al-Duhur airbase, warning that continued military action could further destabilize the Middle East.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned reported Israeli airstrikes on a Syrian military facility, warning that continued military actions could deepen instability and further threaten peace across the Middle East.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office described the reported attack on the Abu al-Duhur airbase near Aleppo as an unprovoked action and a serious violation of international law. It said repeated military operations of this nature risk escalating regional tensions at a time when diplomatic efforts remain crucial.

According to initial reports, Israeli forces carried out eight airstrikes on the airbase in northwestern Syria, targeting the runway and storage facilities. No casualties were initially reported.

Pakistan expressed solidarity with the Syrian people and reaffirmed its support for Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, peace and prosperity. The Foreign Office also urged the international community to respond to what it described as repeated violations of international law and called for accountability for actions that contribute to regional destabilization.

The reported strikes have also raised concerns in Washington. US envoy for Syria Tom Barrack confirmed that Israel had carried out the attacks and described them as an unnecessary escalation. He called for dialogue and restraint, saying further military confrontations would not contribute to regional stability.

The incident comes amid tensions over Israel’s concerns about a possible Turkish military presence at an airbase near Aleppo. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Israel had previously warned Syria against allowing Turkish forces to deploy there, citing security concerns.

Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Shibani rejected the justification for the Israeli action and called for an end to Israeli military operations against Syria. He said Damascus would continue pursuing diplomatic efforts to persuade Israel to change its approach.

Turkiye has also criticised Israel’s position, saying Israeli statements were being used to justify attacks that violate Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Abu al-Duhur airbase, located about 70 kilometres east of the Turkish border, has a long military history. The facility has changed hands several times during Syria’s prolonged civil war and has not operated as a dedicated military airfield since 2013.
