Imam-ul-Haq’s Injury Claim Under Scrutiny Again as PCB Revisits 2025 Controversy

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

A 2025 PCB inquiry into Imam-ul-Haq’s reported toe injury has resurfaced following his latest injury claim.

Pakistan Cricket Board officials are once again expected to scrutinize Imam-ul-Haq’s latest injury claim in light of a previous controversy involving the Pakistan opener during the team’s tour of New Zealand in March 2025.

An inquiry committee formed by the PCB had previously held Imam responsible for reporting a fake injury during the tour, according to sources. The earlier report has returned to the spotlight following the batter’s latest injury claim.

On March 28, 2025, Imam was struck on the right big toe by a ball during an indoor net session. An X-ray conducted afterward reportedly found no evidence of a fracture or displacement of the bone.

Sources said Imam denied before the inquiry committee that he had used ink or any artificial substance on his toe. However, the committee reportedly found his explanation inconsistent with the medical evidence, X-ray findings and the apparent condition of the toe.

The previous controversy also included an allegation that Imam wanted to avoid opening the batting on New Zealand’s fast and challenging pitches. That claim formed part of the wider circumstances surrounding the inquiry but was not independently established in the information available.

The 2025 episode has now become relevant again after Imam’s latest injury claim, with the PCB expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the new issue.

The renewed scrutiny stems from the board’s earlier findings rather than a confirmed conclusion about Imam’s current injury. Any assessment of the latest claim would therefore depend on medical evidence and the findings of the PCB’s inquiry.
