Information Minister Attaullah Tarar says the government’s special fuel relief scheme is aimed at people facing the greatest burden from rising oil prices.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has outlined the procedure for availing relief under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s special fuel relief scheme, saying the initiative targets people most affected by the increase in oil prices.
Speaking at a press conference, Tarar said the prime minister had launched the special relief scheme to provide assistance to eligible citizens facing the greatest impact of higher fuel costs.
According to the information minister, the relief will be available to motorcycle owners and people using vehicles with engine capacity of up to 800cc.
Tarar said eligible individuals will receive a token through the designated system. The token received from 9771 is required to be shown at the petrol pump to avail the relief.
He described the initiative as a new mechanism, saying such a system had not previously been introduced.
The minister said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had taken the initiative after recognizing the difficulties being faced by the public because of rising oil prices.
Tarar emphasized that the scheme was specifically designed to provide relief to those carrying the heaviest burden of increased fuel costs.
