KARACHI — Young television actor Zaviyar Nauman Ijaz says patience, learning and resilience are key to building a lasting career as he responds to the growing popularity of his latest drama, Ghulam Bashah Sundri.
Zaviyar, the eldest son of veteran actor Nauman Ijaz, shared his thoughts during a recent appearance on the morning show Rise and Shine, where he discussed the audience’s reaction to the drama and his long-term career goals. The serial, directed by Amin Iqbal and produced by Baber Javed, has crossed 12 million views within its first three episodes and stars Zaviyar opposite Hiba Afridi.
“I honestly didn’t expect this level of love,” Zaviyar said. “I’m extremely grateful to the audience. Alhamdulillah.” He credited the drama’s success to the collective efforts of the cast and crew, calling it a strong team-driven project.
Speaking about his father’s influence, Zaviyar said Nauman Ijaz emphasizes continuous learning rather than instant success. “Acting is a craft that develops with time and practice,” he said. “Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is an actor.”
Addressing criticism and perceptions of privilege, Zaviyar acknowledged his background but stressed his desire to establish himself independently. “My father has set a benchmark of more than 40 years. I want to earn my place through my own work,” he said, adding that criticism is an inevitable part of growth in the industry.
Zaviyar said his father offers guidance when needed but allows him creative freedom. “I respect his advice, but I also want to carve my own path,” he said.
