Bannu Suicide Attack Foiled: 5 Militants Dead, 2 Soldiers Martyred

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Pakistani security forces intercept suicide bombing attempt, reaffirming commitment to counterterrorism operations

Bannu: Security forces successfully thwarted a major terrorist attack in Bannu on Saturday after militants attempted to target a convoy with a suicide vehicle, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.

The ISPR said the Indian-proxy group Fitna al-Khawarij attempted a suicide bombing using an explosives-laden vehicle. The lead security detachment intercepted the attacker, preventing large-scale destruction in the city. Lieutenant Colonel Shehzada Gul Faraz and Sepoy Karamat Shah were martyred during the operation, while five militants were killed in a heavy exchange of fire. Despite the interception, militants rammed another explosives-laden vehicle into a security forces’ vehicle.

The military alleged that militants continue to use Afghan territory to launch attacks inside Pakistan, criticizing the Afghan Taliban government for failing to restrain such elements. Pakistan reaffirmed its resolve to continue operations under “Azm-i-Istehkam” until terrorism is eradicated.

President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the attack, calling the martyrs a national asset and vowing continued, full-force action against Fitna al-Khawarij. He emphasized that terrorism during Ramazan has no connection with Islam.

Meanwhile, Pakistani authorities identified the suicide bomber in the February 16 Bajaur attack as Afghan national Ahmad, alias Qari Abdullah Abu Zar, linking Afghan soil to cross-border militant operations. Officials claim over 70% of militants in recent attacks are Afghan nationals, heightening tensions between Islamabad and Kabul.
