Zimbabwe fast bowler Brad Evans has etched his name into the record books by achieving a remarkable milestone in T20 cricket. Evans became the first bowler in the format’s history to claim at least one wicket in 28 consecutive innings setting a new benchmark for consistency.
The record was sealed during the ICC T20 World Cup Super Eight clash, where Evans dismissed Shai Hope captain of the West Indies. The breakthrough wicket extended Evans’ streak and pushed him past the previous joint record.
Before Evans’ achievement the best mark was shared by Sri Lankan pace legend Lasith Malinga and Ireland’s seamer Mark Adair both of whom had recorded wickets in 27 consecutive T20 innings.
Evans’ feat highlights not only endurance but also sustained effectiveness in cricket’s shortest format where conditions and match situations can vary drastically.
However the Zimbabwean’s record may soon face competition. Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq is emerging as a potential challenger having already taken wickets in 25 consecutive innings keeping him within striking distance of the historic milestone.
