International coalition warns that Israeli measures risk permanent annexation and threaten two-state solution
A coalition of Muslim and European countries, including Pakistan, strongly condemned Israel’s recent land policies in the occupied West Bank, calling them steps toward “unacceptable de facto annexation” of Palestinian territory.
In a joint statement, nations such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Brazil, France, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Egypt, Luxembourg, Norway, Palestine, Portugal, Qatar, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Türkiye, and the United Arab Emirates, along with the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, criticized Israel’s classification of large West Bank tracts as “state property.”
The statement warned that these measures could accelerate settlement expansion, consolidate Israeli administrative control, and breach international law, including UN Security Council resolutions and the 2024 International Court of Justice advisory opinion. The coalition called on Israel to reverse the decisions, uphold international obligations, and refrain from actions altering the legal and administrative status of the territory.
Palestinian authorities echoed the concerns, describing the move as a major escalation that undermines past agreements. Hamas called it an attempt to appropriate West Bank land. Much of the West Bank remains unregistered, meaning formal designation as state land would effectively grant permanent Israeli control, making the measures highly consequential.
