PTI’s central information secretary accuses Kabul of allowing militant groups to operate from its territory, vows support for Pakistani forces
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram on Friday strongly criticized the Afghan interim government, alleging that Afghan soil is being used to carry out terrorist activities against Pakistan.
In a statement, Akram said Pakistan had consistently supported Afghanistan during difficult times and provided refuge to millions of Afghan refugees on humanitarian grounds. He termed it “deeply regrettable” that elements operating from Afghanistan were now involved in destabilizing Pakistan.
Akram further alleged that terrorist organizations were receiving backing inside Afghanistan, posing a threat not only to Pakistan but to regional peace. He claimed that terrorism had become embedded within the structure of the Afghan interim setup and condemned what he described as hostile tactics.
Reaffirming solidarity with Pakistan’s security forces, Akram said the nation stands united with its “brave soldiers” during the ongoing security challenges. He emphasized that Pakistan seeks peace and stability in the region but will not tolerate actions that compromise its sovereignty or internal security.
Tensions between Islamabad and Kabul have risen in recent months amid renewed cross-border security concerns.
