The Supreme Court of Pakistan has returned the petition filed by Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf seeking transfer from Adiala Jail to a private hospital for eye treatment and access to personal doctors along with family members during treatment. The petition was submitted through his lawyer Latif Khosa but was returned due to procedural objections.
The Registrar’s Office of the Supreme Court raised two main objections. First the court referred to its February 12 order in the Toshakhana criminal case, noting that the criminal appeal is currently pending before the High Court. The petitioners were advised to approach the relevant forum if they had any grievances.
The Registrar also cited reports from the Friend of the Court Salman Safdar and the Adiala Jail Superintendent highlighting that the Supreme Court’s earlier decision should be respected and the proper forum approached for such requests.
Second the objection stated that the petition was filed without the advocate of record under the Supreme Court Rules 2025, making it not maintainable. On these grounds the Supreme Court returned the petition effectively dismissing the request for hospital transfer and special access during treatment.
