Leadership Shakeup at Rescue 1122 as Shah Fahad Returns to Post Following Swat Tragedy
PESHAWAR: (Anwer Zeb Khan) The provincial government has once again appointed Shah Fahad as Director General of Rescue 1122, marking his fourth tenure in the past nine months.
Fahad was previously removed from the position following a tragic incident in Swat, where more than a dozen people drowned in a river. The reappointment comes amid concerns over leadership stability in the critical emergency service.
Rescue 1122, responsible for providing immediate medical assistance, firefighting, and disaster response, has faced challenges in maintaining consistent leadership. Officials emphasize that strong and stable administration is essential for ensuring timely rescue operations and public confidence.
“This decision aims to strengthen leadership and enhance operational efficiency in the wake of recent incidents,” said a government spokesperson.
The repeated changes in the DG position have sparked debate among citizens and policy experts, who stress that continuity is crucial for emergency response organizations, especially in flood-prone and disaster-affected regions like Swat.
With Shah Fahad’s reinstatement, the provincial administration hopes to restore organizational stability and boost morale among Rescue 1122 personnel, ensuring prompt and effective service to the public.
