Government monitors fuel supply and economic stability as global uncertainty persists
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Tuesday that consultations are underway to provide further relief to the public as the government navigates economic challenges amid evolving global conditions.
Chairing a high-level meeting to review economic stability and relief measures, the prime minister noted that timely government decisions have ensured adequate availability of petroleum products across the country. He emphasized that despite rising global tensions, authorities have maintained uninterrupted fuel supply.
Officials briefed the meeting on oil reserves, imports, and supply-demand management, assuring that the situation remains under close monitoring. The government is also overseeing the sale of fuel at officially notified prices to prevent irregularities.
Sharif highlighted that additional relief measures are being considered in light of international developments that continue to impact markets. He added that austerity policies have already been implemented nationwide, with further steps under review to reduce expenditures and stabilize the economy.
The prime minister reiterated his directive for a third-party audit to ensure strict implementation of austerity decisions. He stressed that transparency and accountability remain key priorities as the government works to safeguard economic stability while easing the burden on citizens.
