Aamir Khan is reportedly in early talks to headline R Balki’s upcoming superhero film, with the script still in development.
Bollywood star Aamir Khan could be set to enter the superhero genre for the first time, with the actor reportedly in early discussions to play the lead role in an upcoming film directed by R Balki.
According to Indian media reports, Balki is developing a new superhero project and is considering Khan for the central character. Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala is expected to produce the film.
However, the project is still in its early stages and no final agreement has been reached between Khan and the filmmakers. The script is currently being developed, and the actor is expected to make a final decision only after the story and complete screenplay are ready.
Khan is widely known for being selective about his film projects and is particularly focused on the strength of a screenplay before committing to a role. The filmmakers are therefore concentrating on completing the story and script before presenting the full project to the actor.
According to media reports, if the discussions result in a deal, the film would mark Khan’s first collaboration with both Nadiadwala and Balki. The filmmakers are reportedly planning to present the completed screenplay to the actor in the coming months.
The possibility of Khan appearing as a superhero has generated interest because, despite playing a wide range of distinctive characters throughout his career, he has not previously taken on a conventional superhero role.
Khan’s filmography includes several major commercial successes. Dangal, released in 2016, became one of his biggest hits, while Secret Superstar followed in 2017 and also performed strongly. More recently, Sitaare Zameen Par, released in 2025, also recorded a strong box-office performance.
Meanwhile, Khan is currently working on director Ashutosh Gowariker’s cricket-based film Lahkaar, in which he is set to portray former Indian cricketer Lala Amarnath.
If the superhero project moves forward, it could add another distinct character to Khan’s varied film career. For now, however, the project remains at the discussion and screenplay-development stage, and his involvement has not been finalized.
