PM&DC enforces strict nationwide deadline, warning that any admissions after April 15 will be deemed illegal and unregistered.
ISLAMABAD: In a decisive move that could impact thousands of aspiring medical students, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has officially announced the closure of admissions for the 2025–2026 academic session, enforcing a strict cutoff date with no room for exceptions.
According to an official notification issued by the council, all admissions for medical and dental colleges across the country were closed on April 15, 2026. Institutions have been explicitly directed not to grant admissions beyond this deadline under any circumstances.
The council issued a stern warning, stating that any student admitted after the cutoff date will not be registered with the regulatory body. This effectively renders such admissions invalid, raising serious concerns for students who may have secured placements after the deadline.
PM&DC further clarified that granting admissions beyond the prescribed date constitutes a direct violation of the PM&DC Act 2022 and its associated rules and regulations. As a consequence, affected students will not be issued registration numbers, and their admissions will be treated as null and void.
The directive, approved by the competent authority, is binding on all recognized medical and dental institutions as well as universities involved in the admissions process nationwide. Authorities emphasized that compliance is mandatory and non-negotiable.
Reiterating its commitment to maintaining transparency and merit, the council urged all stakeholders including colleges, universities, and students to strictly adhere to the established rules. The move is part of broader efforts to uphold the quality and integrity of medical and dental education in Pakistan.
The announcement is expected to trigger concern among late applicants and institutions that may have processed admissions after the deadline, potentially leading to disputes and appeals in the coming weeks.
