Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur has questioned the circumstances surrounding Sohail Afridi’s reported arrest in Lahore, saying the episode raised questions about how the proceedings were handled.
In remarks shown in a statement circulating on social media, Gandapur questioned the apparent presence of security arrangements and media interactions during the episode.
“This is not a drama where security drills are being conducted in front of you and you are also giving interviews,” Gandapur said, according to the statement. He questioned the circumstances surrounding the action and said those involved should feel ashamed of the way it was being handled.
Gandapur also questioned the manner in which a chief minister would be arrested. “A chief minister is not arrested like this,” he said, adding that when a chief minister is arrested, it becomes known that the chief minister is being taken into custody.
