Pakistan and Syria have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding defence and security cooperation during a meeting between Field Marshal Asim Munir and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani.
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and Syria have signaled a fresh push to strengthen defence and security cooperation as Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, met Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Friday.
The meeting focused on bilateral relations, regional security and opportunities to expand cooperation between the two countries, particularly in defence and security affairs.
Field Marshal Asim Munir underscored the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Syria, saying both countries shared an interest in promoting peace and stability across the region. He also outlined Pakistan’s perspective on the evolving regional and global security environment.
The army chief emphasized the need for greater coordination and joint efforts to address common security challenges. Both sides discussed avenues for enhancing defence engagement and improving cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Al-Shaibani appreciated the professional role of Pakistan’s armed forces in supporting regional peace and stability. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s contribution to efforts aimed at addressing security challenges in the region.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening Pakistan-Syria relations and expanding cooperation in defence and security.
