Field Marshal Asim Munir says veterans’ experience, guidance and sacrifices remain valuable to Pakistan’s national security and resilience.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has praised the contributions of Pakistan’s former military personnel, describing their experience, knowledge and guidance as a valuable institutional resource for the country.
The army chief made the remarks while hosting a reception for ex-servicemen on Pakistan’s Independence Day. A large number of retired officers and personnel attended the gathering, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Field Marshal Asim Munir paid tribute to veterans for their services and sacrifices during their years in the armed forces. He also recognised their continuing contribution to national resilience and security even after their formal retirement.
The army chief said Pakistan was operating in a complex and evolving security environment, making the experience of former servicemen particularly important. Their institutional knowledge, he said, could help the country better understand emerging threats and respond more effectively to changing security challenges.
He described the expertise and guidance of veterans as an important national asset and emphasised that their role could contribute to strengthening Pakistan’s security and resilience.
The gathering also highlighted the enduring connection between serving personnel and retired members of the armed forces. Veterans reaffirmed their confidence in the leadership of the Pakistan Army and expressed their support for efforts to address emerging security challenges.
The retired personnel also pledged to continue contributing to national unity, peace and prosperity.
