Lahore: Pakistan’s star batsman and national team captain, Babar Azam, has reached another historic milestone in T20 International cricket by breaking Virat Kohli’s record for the most half-centuries in T20Is.
During the ongoing third T20 against Australia, Babar scored an unbeaten 50 runs off 36 balls, marking his 39th T20I fifty and surpassing Kohli’s previous record of 38 half-centuries. The innings came in Babar’s 139th T20I match, while Kohli had set the record in 125 matches.
The 31-year-old is also the highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals, having scored 4,505 runs in 139 innings at an average of 39.51. Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma ranks third on the list with 37 half-centuries, followed by Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan with 31, and Australia’s David Warner with 29.
Babar’s record-breaking performance highlights his consistency and dominance in the shortest format of the game. Fans and cricket experts hailed his innings as a remarkable achievement, further cementing his position as one of the greatest T20I players.
