Authorities announce closure of educational institutions in Islamabad while Sindh government declares province-wide holiday for Jumma-tul-Wida.
All educational institutions across Islamabad Capital Territory remained closed on Friday, March 13, following an official directive issued by the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
According to the notification shared by Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, the closure applies to every educational establishment operating within the federal capital. The order covers both public and private sector schools, colleges, and universities across the territory.
The announcement was made through the deputy commissioner’s official social media channels, confirming that March 13 has been declared a day off for all academic institutions in the capital region. However, the official order did not provide a specific reason for the sudden closure.
Meanwhile, the provincial government of Sindh also announced a public holiday across the province on the same day. An official circular issued by the services department confirmed that all provincial government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous institutions, corporate entities, and local councils will remain closed.
The directive clarified that essential and emergency services will continue to operate as usual.
Earlier, Sindh’s Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah had indicated that the provincial government planned to announce a holiday in observance of Jumma‑tul‑Wida.
Jumma-tul-Wida, observed on the final Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, holds special religious significance for Muslims. If Ramadan concludes in 29 days this year, March 13 corresponds with this important occasion.
