Lahore Mourns Ayatollah Khamenei as Lawyers, Civil Society Hold Candlelight Vigil

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Lawyers, civil society members, and citizens gathered in Lahore to honor the late Iranian Supreme Leader and express solidarity with the people of Iran.

LAHORE: Members of the legal fraternity, civil society, and people from diverse walks of life gathered at GPO Chowk in Lahore on July 9 for a peaceful prayer and candlelight vigil to pay tribute to the late Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Organized by the Pakistan Global Initiative, the ceremony brought together participants who offered collective prayers for the departed leader, seeking eternal peace for his soul and Jannat al-Firdaus. Candles were lit throughout the gathering as a symbol of respect, mourning, and solidarity with the people of Iran.

The event was led by human rights activist and High Court Advocate Makhdoom Muhammad Waseem Qureshi. Addressing the gathering, Qureshi described Ayatollah Khamenei’s martyrdom as a defining sacrifice for Iran and its civilization. He said the late leader’s steadfastness and commitment to his principles would be remembered for generations, drawing parallels with the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) in standing against oppression.

Qureshi also praised Pakistan’s leadership for its diplomatic engagement during recent regional tensions. He commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their efforts to promote dialogue and regional stability, highlighting Pakistan’s role in facilitating diplomatic initiatives related to the Iran-United States conflict.
