High-level talks between the Ahmadzai National Jirga and district officials focused on reopening Palay Chowk, addressing security concerns, and improving public safety in South Waziristan Lower.
WANA: A high-level delegation of the Ahmadzai National Jirga met with Deputy Commissioner Musarrat Zaman and District Police Officer Tahir Shah in South Waziristan Lower to discuss the closure of Palay Chowk, public concerns over drone activity, law and order, and other key community issues.
During the meeting, jirga members urged the district administration to reopen Palay Chowk immediately, arguing that the prolonged closure has created hardships for local residents. They also called for practical and lasting measures to strengthen peace and resolve public grievances across the district.
Deputy Commissioner Musarrat Zaman assured the delegation that the administration is treating the matter with seriousness. He requested time until July 25 to complete the necessary arrangements and expressed hope that, if the security situation remains favorable, Palay Chowk will be reopened to the public on that date.
The deputy commissioner added that the district administration and law enforcement agencies remain committed to maintaining lasting peace, protecting lives and property, and further improving the overall security situation in South Waziristan Lower.
