A 14-year-old missing boy was rescued alive after being found unconscious inside a pit near Sargodha, while police launched an investigation following the child’s allegations against a local suspect.
SARGODHA: A 14-year-old boy who had been missing since the previous day was rescued alive after being found unconscious inside a pit near Mari Lak in the jurisdiction of Jhal Chakian Police Station, according to local police and family members.
The victim, identified as Ghulam Rasool, son of Mazhar of the Machhi community, reportedly regained consciousness and cried for help. People working in nearby fields heard his screams and immediately alerted the police, leading to his rescue.
After being rescued, the boy allegedly told police that a man identified as Qamar, son of Mola Bakhsh and a resident of Mari Dera Wadhra, had rendered him unconscious before throwing him into the pit.
The injured child was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Sargodha for medical treatment, where his condition is being monitored.
Police said raids are underway to arrest the nominated suspect, who remains at large. SHO Jhal Chakian Inspector Zeeshan Iqbal reached the scene and initiated an investigation into the incident.
