A routine traffic inspection in Lahore reveals an extraordinary vehicle registration record and millions in unpaid electronic fines linked to one citizen.
A routine traffic check in Lahore has uncovered a surprising case after police claimed that a single citizen’s name was linked to an unusually high number of vehicles and thousands of unpaid traffic fines.
According to the traffic police, the discovery was made during a general hold-up operation in Muslim Town, where officers checked a motorcycle and verified the owner’s record. The vehicle was reportedly registered under the name of Muhammad Jamshed.
During the database review, officials found that a total of 1,743 vehicles, including motorcycles, rickshaws, and other vehicles, were registered under the same individual’s name.
Further investigation revealed that the citizen’s record also contained 2,295 outstanding electronic traffic challans. The total value of the unpaid fines was reported to be more than Rs2.8 million.
Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Abdul Rahim Shirazi said that registering such a large number of vehicles under one person’s name is an unusual matter. He added that authorities are examining all aspects of the case to determine how such a record was created and whether any irregularities are involved.
